Duo Flechl/Lang

These two artists from the renowned vocal quartet ‘Klangquadrat’ combine to bring audiences an amazing sound experience.


Elisabeth Flechl, a soprano, and Elisabeth Lang, a mezzosoprano, have been successfully performing together for years to the delight of audiences.

They have been in numerous joint concerts around the world, from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien in Austria to the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Their most recent performances have taken place in: the Palais Eschenbach in Vienna, the cathedral of Wiener Neustadt, the National Exhibition of Upper Austria, and various festivals around Austria. They have also performed internationally on the big stages of Japan.

The ensemble is performing a number of different programs, each with a particular focus and theme, to bring their audiences a new experience each time. The variety of their music ranges from the romantic ‘Lied’ cycles to contemporary pieces.

The duo is being accompanied by Thomas Böttcher on the piano.

Active concert career in Austria and abroad (Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien, Opera House Sydney, Russia, China, Japan and the US).

Many opera- and operetta productions as soloist at the Opera House Graz, Salzburger Landestheater, Brucknerfestival Linz, Bregenzer Festspiele, Seefestspiele Mörbisch, Operettenfestspiele Bad Ischl.


Since 2007/2008 regular performances at the Volksoper Wien.

2016/2017 Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) at the Semperopera Dresden, 2017/2018 at the New National Theatre Tokyo.

Since October 2016 teaching position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Elisabeth Lang, Mezzosoprano

Operaproductions at the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Kammeroper, Neue Oper Wien as well as abroad (Sydney, Japan, China, Korea, various opera houses in Europe).

She was member of the Opernstudio of the Vienna State Opera.


Activ concert career in Austria and abroad; cooperation with renowned conductors such as Sir Georg Solti, Adam Fischer, etc.


Continous invititations to various Festivals in Austria and abroad (Carinthischer Sommer, Rheingau Festival, Berkshire Festival, etc.)


Soloist at numerous world premiers of contemporary pieces, e.g. 6 different roles in Friedrich Cerha's "Baal" with the Neue Oper Wien.


Member of many chamber music ensembles, e.g. WortTonArt, ensemble reconsil, Barock&Co.

Thomas Böttcher, Piano

Already during his University studies, répétiteur at various summer courses and voice classes at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (e.g. Walter Berry). Aftwards Choir Director at the „Wiener Singakademie“ and the „Niederösterreichische Jugendsingwoche“.


1987 - 1992 Director of the „Amstettner Symphonieorchester“. Since then frequent répétiteur and conductor at the Neue Oper Wien and the Oper Klosterneuburg.


1990 - 1996 Conductor and Pianist at the Vienna Boys Choir.


Since 2012 First Choir Director at the Volksopera Vienna. With his choir he won the "Erste Österreichische Musiktheaterpreis" in the category "Best Choir" in 2017.
